Bach essences

A natural path to emotional balance and mental well-being, developed by the physician Edward Bach to calm the mind and harmonise the soul

Bach essences

Introduction

Bach drops

, also known as

Bach essences

, or

"Bachovky"

, are natural remedies developed by the British physician Edward Bach in the 1930s. Bach, a doctor and homeopath, believed that emotional imbalance could lead to physical illness, and therefore developed 38 different flower essences, each intended for a specific emotional state. These essences are designed to harmonise emotional and mental states such as fear, stress and anxiety. They were originally prepared using two methods – sun infusion and boiling the flowers in water – and preserved with alcohol, usually brandy.

How they work

Bach drops are gentle, natural essences that help balance emotions and support overall mental well-being. Each essence targets a specific emotional issue, such as fear, uncertainty, loneliness or exhaustion. Users apply the drops orally, either directly onto the tongue or dissolved in water.

Production

Our Bach drops begin with the hand-picking of flowers, which are imported directly from England. This careful process ensures that the flowers are gathered at their highest quality and in their natural environment.
The essences are made using traditional methods that involve sun infusion or boiling the flowers in water. These methods ensure that the healing properties of the flowers are preserved. The resulting essences are then preserved with alcohol to ensure their long-term stability.

List of Bach essences

Bach essences are unique natural remedies that help restore emotional balance and mental well-being. Dr Edward Bach, a British physician and homeopath, developed them between 1928 and 1936 from the flowers of wild-growing plants and trees. His system is based on the belief that negative emotional states affect our physical health. Each of the 38 essences targets a specific emotion or state of mind – from stress and anxiety to exhaustion and uncertainty. These gently acting essences support the body's natural ability to heal and help us better cope with everyday emotional challenges.

Frequently asked questions

What are Bach drops?

Bach flower essences, known as Bach drops, are natural products developed by the British physician Dr Edward Bach in the 1930s. They are made from extracts of flowers and plants and help harmonise negative emotions such as fear, stress, indecision, sadness and so on. They are not addictive and are suitable for children, adults and animals. You cannot overdose on Bach drops. If you accidentally take more drops, nothing happens.

How should the drops be taken and for how long?

To achieve real results, regular and consistent use is essential. Do not skip doses and follow the minimum daily dosage: Dropper: 4× a day, 4 drops Spray: 4× a day, 2 sprays The recommended duration of use is 3 months, especially for deeper or longer-standing emotional difficulties where inner blocks need to be released. For less serious states, the duration of use may be shorter – according to individual need. In more demanding cases, we also recommend increased dosing – 6× to 8× a day. Crisis drops SOS and Calm Sleep SOS can be taken as needed, even repeatedly every 5 minutes until relief is felt. ⚠️ Note for the dropper: When dispensing, please take care that the dropper does not touch the tongue or mouth — this prevents the transfer of bacteria into the bottle and keeps the drops fresh for longer.

Are Bach drops suitable for pregnant women?

Yes, we offer a variant preserved with vegetable glycerol, which is suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women. However, we recommend consulting everything with your doctor or midwife before use.

Are they suitable for children?

Yes, children can also take Bach drops. They help them cope with emotions such as fear, uncertainty, sadness or changes at nursery or school. For children, we recommend the variant preserved with vegetable glycerol.

Do Bach drops contain alcohol?

Yes, the basic essences naturally contain a small amount of alcohol, which arises during the production of the mother tinctures. For the final preservation into drops, we add a little spirit or vegetable glycerine. The glycerine variant is more suitable, especially for children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, or animals. In the case of the alcohol variant, the alcohol content is truly minimal – a daily dose of drops corresponds to roughly 1 ml of total solution, which represents a completely negligible amount of alcohol. Such an amount cannot be detected on the breath and is not detectable by common tests, for example during a roadside check. However, we recommend verifying this individually, especially before driving a motor vehicle. If for any reason you prefer drops without final preservation with alcohol, we recommend choosing the glycerine variant. In the case of health restrictions, we recommend consulting your doctor about use. Due to the trace amount of alcohol, Bach drops must not be used while taking medication for which alcohol is contraindicated, in particular: disulfiram (Antabuse), metronidazole (e.g. Entizol) or tinidazole (e.g. Fasigyn).

Can I replace medication with Bach drops?

No. The essences support emotional balance but do not replace medication prescribed by a doctor. They can, however, complement it.

How do I choose the right essences?

The essences are always chosen according to what you are currently experiencing and what is emotionally weighing on you. For each essence you will find a description of the emotions it helps with. If you are not sure, we will be happy to advise you with your selection.

Can the different types of drops be combined?

You can safely combine Crisis drops SOS with both the Tailor-made Bach drops and the Specific drops, and we often even recommend this combination. The Tailor-made drops and the Specific drops can also be combined with the Calm Sleep SOS product. However, we do not recommend taking the Specific drops and the Tailor-made Bach drops at the same time, as their effects may overlap and their effectiveness may be reduced.
